Pineapple Greeting Card (+ Free Cut Files)

3Featured

Popping in with a quick card and a free cutting file that you can use with your Silhouette or Cricut machines. It’s been insanely hot and humid in DC for the past week, and it seemed only fitting to create a card with a nod to summer.

Looking at the latest Color Throwdown challenge – blue, yellow, and green – I figured I’d go with a pineapple themed card. In the end, I missed the deadline for the challenge, but it still served as a great inspiration.

Since I hadn’t come across any pineapple cut files, I decided to create one together myself. The cut file, along with the complete list of supplies used to make this card can be found below.

Here’s how I put the card together:

First, I cut the pineapple shape and the ‘sunny’ sentiment out of 65# white cardstock. I cut the sentiment out three times and adhered the three dies, one atop the other using Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue, to give the sentiment a bit of extra dimension. Using a Ranger Mini Blending Tool, I added some color to the sentiment using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, adding the color only to the top half of the sentiment.

For the pineapple, I used Shinhan Touch Twin Brush Markers (a more affordable alternative to Copics). I used Y34 and Y35 for the yellows and G48, G46, and 45 for the greens, starting lighter shades at the bottom, and adding the darker shades at the top. To adhere the pineapple to the card front, I used the outline of the pineapple (which was still a little sticky from my cutting mat) to adhere the cut out pieces like a puzzle. This is a really useful way to ensure I glue them down in the right place.

For the rest of the sentiment, I used my Silhouette Pen Holder and a white gel pen on 65# grey cardstock, and cut it out with the Silhouette. I glued the Sunny sentiment down over the pineapple, and then adhered the two pieces of grey cardstock above and beneath it.

For a final touch, I added a bit of glitter to the leaves, pineapple, and the blue distress ink on the sentiment using a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen.
